Who Are We? We are KevEm Media. Founded by Kevin Jordan and Emily Bowens, we are a digital media company. The aim of our latest package ‘The Social Club’, is to assist committees in bringing their clubs to life on social media platforms. Why Us? We have been steeped in sport from a young age and understand both the mind of the player, and that of a seasoned spectator. In recent years, we have become involved in the committees of their local GAA clubs. This has provided insight into the obstacles many amateur sporting clubs face. Majority of these are funding and getting the word out there about fixtures, fundraisers and club news. Digital media has become a fundamental communication network for businesses over the last number of years. Social media in sports clubs is no different; having a structured social media platform is imperative for communication with club members on events, matches and training fixtures.
Many clubs underestimate the power behind an effective social media presence and the benefits it can provide. Along with supplying the club with a platform to promote all of the good work that they are doing, it can be used as a compelling tool when approaching possible sponsors. It is a substantial advantage to be able to show a sponsor how their company will have maximised promotion potential, with your quality social media following. The Templates There are 40 templates in this package, all created on the platform Canva. The templates range from weekly game fixtures to live score updates and lotto results. What is Canva? Canva is a powerful graphic design tool that can be used to create posts for social media and documents for print. It is a free tool that allows you to work with photo editing, design layout and more, all within an easy to use platform. It utilises a simple drag and drop interface. Everything works either via a web browser or on the iOS or Android apps. The Canva tool comes with a library of templates that can be edited to a clubs desire. However, what we offer is a collection of templates specifically tailored to sports clubs and 40 templates already personalised to your club. The templates we have created for this package only use elements from the free to use Canva. There is a paid version available that allows wider access to features. Tutorial Videos To save you the time and hassle of trying to figure out Canva from scratch we have created a playlist of tutorial videos. These will help provide not only continuous assistance for the current person in charge, but also training for their successor. These videos answer the common ‘HOW TO’ questions such as changing font size, adding and removing images and alignment issues. The Social Club Support We understand this is going to be a completely new experience for the majority of club officials. There is no need to worry, as we provide continuous technical support. If the club has any queries that aren’t explained in our tutorial videos, we are happy to help and answer any questions you may have.
When it comes to match day, there is a hive of activity between the team, pitches stewards and supporters. These are our top 4 tips when it comes to match day content creation to help you succeed. Plan There is no better way to avoid stress and be prepared for unknown events, other than to plan ahead. Social Handles Ensure you have the correct social media handles to tag your opponents in match updates/ fixtures and results. Sizing of Images This reverts back to the correct planning. Having the correct sizing for posts or stories will save time editing on the day. Pre write predictable captions Pre write captions for every event (e.g. score update) that can be used during the game will save time on match day.
Social Media Sizing. Across the various social media platforms there are different size requirements depending on the platform and the destination of the content (post or story). You will hear reference in social media to terms such as 1080x1080 or 1920x1080, this simply refers to the sizing of social media in pixels is the measure of resolution in a digital image or video display. Pixels are the elements digital images are made up of. Pixels are arranged in a 2-dimensional grid, represented using squares. The more pixels the better quality an image is. Stories are something that last for 24hrs and then will be gone. A story will take up the entire size of your phone when you click on it. The size of a story across Facebook and Instagram is 1080x1920 (9:16). A post goes into your main feed or grid and is generally regarded as a Square 1080x1080 (1:1). The image above explains the difference between the sizing when looking at a phone. Stories are very useful for match days for updating a score, usually on Instagram/ Facebook. Twitter is predominantly text and has integrations with ‘What’s the Score’, which allows updates on every score of the match.

The Business Suite includes tools that allow you to: • Publish or schedule new posts to your accounts. • Respond to messages and comments from your Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger accounts. • Get advertising insights. • Create Automated Responses for frequent questions and actions. This will make life easier for the PRO or social media manager and enable them to be more efficient with posting content for matches or training.
Twitter also provides a feature which allows you to schedule content in advance. This is available on the desktop version. Similar to the Business Suite, it is brilliant for reducing the amount of time spent posting content. These scheduling assistants take a considerable amount of stress off the individual/ individuals in charge of your social media accounts. Primarily in clubs with various age groups, as they will have training or matches every day and it is important to get the word out.
The next steps are outlined below, this will provide a seam less transition for bringing us aboard and adapting your content to new levels. Schedule a call with you and provide a handover of the account along with any questions. We receive email address, crest and images from your club. We will then set up a free Canva account on behalf of the club, which you can access through your clubs email. We will then personalise all 40 templates to the club’s profile, and give you access. Provide continuous technical support, if the club has any queries that aren’t explained in our tutorial videos.
